Less a town than a flower garden, Fortin de las Flores was a Spanish outpost during the colonial period. Today it is a resort town noted for its exceptionally beautiful gardens (gardenias, camellias, orchids). You can visit the plantation that each day supplies the large resort hotel with the truckload of gardenias that are floated on its swimming pool. The best of the area's flowers can be appreciated at the annual flower fair in April.
